Rhodochrosite
Rhodochrosite is mainly found in Argentina. These ones here are from Stalactitic Cavity, Capillita Mines.
The Capillita Mines bed is located in the East slope of Capillita Mountain Range. It is 35 km. North of Andalgala, Catamarca Province, Argentine Republic, between 3100 and 3300 meter above sea level. It is formed by a striped Mineralization of polimetalic sulfides (Cu, Pb, Ag, Au) with banded Rhodochrosite of beautiful red-pink colour, which is universally used as a precious stone. It is the only place all over the world where Rhodochrosite Stalactitics cavities (diatremes) are found, these remarkable longer cylindrical bodies, straight or curved, are formed of red, pink and white alternate bands, which form concentric rings of rare beauty. Several times, these wonderful formations are covered by a coat of pyrite, brown rhodochrosite with Fe and Zn («Capillitita») and white carbonate.
